Waiting is a strange state.
You are there, but you haven't arrived yet.
Time stretches out, everything becomes quieter, and suddenly you are completely at peace with yourself.
Spotlight – Waiting captures precisely this moment, this state between ‘still’ and ‘soon’, in which you are doing nothing and yet everything is stirring inside you.
A single figure stands in the beam of a street lamp, leaning against the post, as if they have time – or as if they need to take it.
No destination, no event, no indication of what they are actually waiting for.
And that is precisely the point.
Because who doesn't know this feeling: this waiting that cannot be planned.
Waiting for a message, a decision, a person – or simply for something to happen.
The picture deliberately leaves this void open and makes it tangible.
It does not impose itself, it does not explain anything, it simply stands still and endures the moment. Just as we often have to do ourselves.
The work is painted with acrylic paints on cardboard.
And yes, it is framed – firmly and definitively.
Like some moments in life: once like this, always like this.
Art on cardboard.
Art that does not call out, but waits.
Patiently. Just like the figure in the picture.
