Still Life 2.0 is a work that arose from a spontaneous idea.
When I discovered an open call on the theme of still life, this image immediately popped into my head: a classic, magnificent fruit bowl, brimming with fruit – but each piece of fruit is wrapped in plastic.
I knew I definitely wanted to realise this idea.
In the end, it wasn't good enough for the exhibition in the gallery, but this jacket is still a very special piece for me. It combines my love of classical painting with a topic that has long been a thorn in my side: fruit and vegetables in plastic packaging.
Especially in discount stores, you can hardly find any unpackaged goods.
But sustainability should be exactly that – easily accessible, affordable and freely available to everyone.
With Still Life 2.0, I wanted to highlight this absurdity.
